After another busy 12 months in the land of TV, big names flocked to London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday night for this year’s National Television Awards.
Running for decades now the awards seek to recognise all kind of shows and genres on British TV, with top awards like Best Soap, Presenter and Entertainment Show being contested year after year and accolades like TV Expert and Authored Documentary being introduced in more recent years.
Having first followed in the footsteps of the likes of Sir Trevor McDonald and Dermot O’Leary a few years ago it was again the job of Masked Singer host Joel Dommett to be master of ceremonies at the O2 as small screen stars and guest presenters walked the red carpet.
Many eyes were Holly Willoughby and her This Morning colleagues as the ITV show lost out on the Daytime prize and was booed by some of the crowd, after a tough start to the year, following the controversy surrounding now ex host Phillip Schofield.
Elsewhere, there’ was a battle of the BBC and ITV heavyweights for Returning Drama as Happy Valley and Vera went head to head, while Ant and Dec won Best Presenter for a 22nd year in a row.
We brought you all the winners as they were announced, as well as live updates throughout the night.
