Republican, Thursday, June 23, 2005 B5 Miriam Harrison 1916 2005 HOLYOKE Miriam (Doherty) Harrison, age 88, of Holyoke, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, a daughter of the late John A. and Mary an (Mitchell) Doherty, and attended the former St. Jerome Schools in Holyoke. Miriam was a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and served as a Registered Nurse for many years.

She worked at Holyoke Hospital and did private duty nursing before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Holyoke Senior Citizens, and attended knitting classes at the Rosary Towers in Holyoke. Her husband, John R. Harrison, died in 1973. Miriam is survived by her children, Richard Harrison of Mystic, CT, John Harrison of Holyoke, Mary "Judy" Kaplan of Holyoke, Joanne Henry of Oceanside, CA, Susan Weber of Naperville, IL, and Linda Savage of Westhampton; eight grandchildren, Kelly Keeler, Lisa Wallace, Michael Henry, Christopher Weber, Kathy Savage, Robert Savage, Laurie Lewis, and Amy Harrison; eight great-.

Born in Bracigliano, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Aniello and Belisa (Daniele) Basile. Pat graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield. After her retirement, she joined the JCC Writing Club and wrote stories about her life, which were published. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and its Women's Guild. She was involved in many voluntary community activities as well as the church before migrating to the USA, where she continued being active in the church and the community of Springfield. Sylvia Peterkin loved children, therefore she took care of many children.

Mrs. Peterkin is survived by her devoted husband, Joselyn Peterkin of Springfield; three sons, Trevor Peterkin (Garth) and Garnett Peterkin, both of Springfield, and Radcliffe Peterkin of New Jersey; two daughters, Leonie Peterkin and Teresita Peterkin, both of Kingston, Jamaica; two sisters, Joyce Kerr of Springfield and Enid Black of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica; two brothers, Leonard Burke of Toronto, Canada and Clarence Burke of Manchester, Jamaica; as well as several grand and great -grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. Joyce was a native of Springfield, MA. She and her husband Leonard raised their six children in Wilbraham, MA before retiring to Merritt Island, FL. In addition to nurturing six children, she was an accomplished seamstress, teacher and an avid reader. Her deep faith in God guided and sustained her throughout her life. In everything she did, she exemplified true devotion to her faith, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Imelda Warner Brunette and her father Elmer E. Warner of Springfield, She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Leonard A. Richard L. Sullivan 1942 2005 SPRINGFIELD Richard L. "Sully" Sullivan, 62, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2005. Born in Ludlow and a lifelong Springfield resident, he was the son of the late and Josephine (Magiera) Sullivan. "Sully" was a gun fitter for the Smith Wesson of Springfield.
